About the maker
Hand-thrown in a small workshop in Jingdezhen, this gaiwan is fired at 1280°C in a reduction atmosphere. The sky-blue Ru glaze develops a subtle crackle over years of use — each piece evolves with its owner.
Description
A 110ml gaiwan suited to gongfu brewing of oolong, white tea, and pu-erh. The thin walls transmit heat quickly; the wide rim lets you decant without a holder. Each piece is hand-thrown, glazed, and single-fired — no two are identical.
The glaze formula is based on Northern Song dynasty Ru ware records: agate powder in the slip, reduction-fired to produce the characteristic "rain after sky" blue.
